Taking your husband's last name as yours is quite a hot button topic. Some like to hyphen their names and some won't change it at all. But for you traditional women out there, taking his name is a sweet gesture. But just wait until you see what a pain it can be!
Sure, you know you have to change your social security card, your drivers license and your credit cards. But what about your medical files at the doctors? Or your ING bank account? Or your 401 K? The list is endless. It seemed to me like every time I got an envelope in the mail with a bill or notification, it was another reminder for me to change my last name in their system. Most places also require that you send your marriage license in, so it isn't as easy as going online to change your name. How I wish this could be easier!
And now it is! I am VERY happy to spread the word about an amazing site called Miss Now Mrs. All you have to do is sign up and pay a minimal fee. Basic starts at $19.95 and Complete is $29.95. Basic really just includes your social security card and your drivers license, so if you want everything, soup-to-nuts, I suggest going for the Complete package.

Then, all you have to do is fill in a list of information such as your name, your fiances name, your parents names (including maiden) and everyone's respective social security numbers and birth dates. There might be a few more details to include, but that is the gist of it. Then you select your state and that is it! Sit back and watch as Miss Now Mrs takes your information and fills out all of the government forms for you. All you have to do is print, sign and get to your local department offices to finalize it. I cannot tell how you easy it was! The amount of time saved looking online for documents and driving to the offices to pick things up was huge (the site references up to 13 hours are saved)! Also, the system puts together notifications for doctors, utility companies and more. So genius!
As if this all wasn't great enough, they also offer gift cards. So if you know your daughter, sister or friend will be changing her name, you can cover the cost for her. I can't tell you what a life saver that would be! Also, 5% of all the proceeds from the site go towards the Making Memories foundation.
