Blog Away!

During the wedding planning process you want to keep your
friends and family in the loop with everything. It has become quite the common occurrence
to have a wedding website to do so. Assuming that you are not a digital guru,
you will probably surf the net to find someone to help you out. You can make a
site through those popular wedding websites (which will remain nameless) but so
many of those wedding websites have cheesy templates, meaning you and a
thousand other people have the same site. You don’t want to be unoriginal now
do you? But if you wanted to get fancy, you could pay a pretty penny to have
someone make a website for you. But you are on a budget, so what is a girl to
do?

Why not take part in a growing trend in the wedding world
and make your own blog! I mean, you are reading a blog right now! I can’t tell
you how easy it is. There are a ton of different sites you can use, but a few
of the most popular sites are Blogger, Typepad and WordPress. I would recommend
Blogger and WordPress because they are free! Typepad has a basic blog set up
for $4.95 a month, but also gives you a lot of customizable features. You will
be set up with your own URL but if you wanted a “Vanity” URL like www.SmithJonesWedding.com you can
purchase one for about $10 for the year through GoDaddy. Then you can just let
it expire and be done with it! The blogging sites should provide you with the
instructions of how to link their blog to your new URL.

When it comes to actually blogging, let it come naturally to
you. You are, after all, just talking to your friends and family (you can make
your site public or private if needed). A post is easy to write, edit and
upload pictures. You can keep everyone in the loop with your planning process,
as well as important information like times, locations, and directions. It’s also
a great way to keep in touch with friends or family members that are not in the
area, but still want to be a part of the action.
